Sweet and Savory S’mores Charcuterie Board
S’mores are a quintessential treat, but why stop at the classic marshmallow, chocolate, and graham cracker combo? This year, I decided to elevate the s’mores experience by creating a charcuterie board filled with ingredients for both sweet and savory s’mores. It’s the perfect way to add a creative twist to a cozy night by the fire or a fun gathering with friends and family.

Why a S’mores Charcuterie Board?
A s’mores charcuterie board is not only visually stunning but also allows everyone to customize their own flavor combinations. By offering both sweet and savory options, you cater to every taste preference and turn a simple dessert into an interactive experience. Plus, it’s super easy to assemble and a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.
How to make s’mores indoors
To be able to make s’mores inside you’ll need some sort of flame and I remembered last summer I actually bought a table top fire bowl so that worked out perfect!

I really like this portable fire bowl because first of all it’s cute – I like the simple style of the light gray concrete! It’s a nice size and all you need to use it is rubbing alcohol. Using rubbing alcohol for fuel is so nice because if you ever run out of your fire bowl fuel chances are you have rubbing alcohol around the house anyway. It’s also a great deal for what it is and worked perfect for this s’mores charcuterie board. I’ve used it both indoors and outside and it has worked great each time I used it.

What to Include on Your Board

Sweet S’mores Ingredients:
- Marshmallows: Traditional or flavored marshmallows like strawberry or caramel.
- Chocolate: Classic milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, or peanut butter cups.
- Cookies and Crackers: Graham crackers, chocolate chip cookies, shortbread cookies, waffle cookies or Oreos.
- Fruits: Sliced bananas, strawberries, and raspberries for a fresh and juicy twist.

Savory S’mores Ingredients:
- Cheeses: Brie, sharp cheddar, or gouda for a rich, melty base.

- Crackers: Buttery crackers, pretzel crisps, or artisan flatbreads.
- Vegetables: Roasted red peppers or caramelized onions for a gourmet touch.

- Veggie’s and Dip: Dill or vegetable dip with cucumbers, carrots and tomatoes is nice to snack on while making the s’mores.
How to make a NYE themed s’mores charcuterie board
To make my s’mores board fun for New Years Eve I decided to add some ingredients to make it look like a clock to play. I used Crav’n brand chocolate sandwich cookies because they were on sale at Byerlys while I was there but Oreos or any other darker colored round cookie would work perfect.
How to make the numbers
- add about 2 tablespoons of frosting or Jet-Puffed marshmallow creme to a ziplock bag.
- cut the very tip of one of the corners of the bag off to squeeze marshmallow through – make sure to cut off a very small amount of the bag to keep the hole small.
- close up the bag and squeeze the marshmallow out onto your cookies in the shape of numbers 1 through 12

How to Assemble the Board
- Choose Your Base: Use a large cutting board, platter, or serving tray. Arrange small bowls for spreads and sauces.
- Group Similar Items: Place sweet ingredients on one side and savory ingredients on the other for easy navigation.
- Layer and Style: Add height by stacking marshmallows and chocolate bars. Use fresh greenery or edible flowers for decoration.
- Add Toasting Tools: Include skewers for roasting marshmallows and a small fire pit or outdoor grill if hosting outside.
Creative S’mores Combos
- Sweet Classic: Marshmallow, milk chocolate, and graham cracker.
- Berry Bliss: Marshmallow, dark chocolate, and sliced strawberries on a shortbread cookie.
- Savory Delight: Brie, fig jam, and crispy bacon on a buttery cracker.
- Sweet and Salty: Marshmallow, peanut butter cup, and pretzel crisp.
Hosting Tips
- Prep Ahead: Assemble the board a few hours before your event and cover it with plastic wrap to keep ingredients fresh.
- Provide Heat: If you’re indoors, use a tabletop s’mores maker or small Sterno cans. For outdoor gatherings, a fire pit is ideal. This is the one I used and I love it!
- Encourage Creativity: Place a sign or card with suggested combinations to inspire guests.
