- 1/2 cup 1 stick butter, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup + 2 Tablespoons semi-sweet chocolate chips You can also use milk chocolate for a slightly sweeter cookie
- 1 cup red and green M&M’s
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Add the egg and stir in the vanilla extract. Do not over-mix.
Add in the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir until combined.
Gently fold in the chocolate chips and M&M’s.
Using your hands or a cookie scoop or spoon, place 2-3" balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. You can press a few additional M&M’s on top of each cookie if needed to make sure the red and green is prominent.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are just set. Avoid overbaking to keep the cookies soft and chewy.
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Then, grab a glass of milk and enjoy your festive creation!
